Piece of (i) Provides Security to Serrano HOA – Year in Review

Community Overview

a large private community in El Dorado Hills, California is 51+ miles of roads with 3,800 homes and 9,000 residents. With its gated villages and quiet streets, Serrano offers serenity and security – a place that you can truly call home. Serrano offers friendly neighborhoods, miles of hiking trails, on-site and nearby schools, a private country club and championship golf course – all surrounded by 1,000 acres of open space and spectacular views. The prestigious Serrano Country Club is one of the premier club facilities in California, with a private, award-winning 34,000-square-foot clubhouse and par-72 championship golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr., revered as one of the best golf course architects in the world.

As a large, 4000-property private community facing increasing security challenges, the Serrano El Dorado  Owners’ Association needed additional support for its security guards and patrol units. With 21 gated entrances and 53 miles of road spread out over 3,500 acres, the  security staff was finding it difficult to quickly identify incidents of damaged gates, loitering groups and illegal  visitors, putting the community and its property at risk.

Success, a Year in Review

The Piece of (i) team began working with Serrano in July 2013. We provided a comprehensive surveillance solution that brought video from 21 locations to a centralized server for storage, analysis, and viewing. Upgrades have included the integration of audio and video recording, and back up on gate storage of full resolution video. Serrano security has benefited from rapid event image searching and video analytics allowing for event identification and video export in a matter of minutes.

The system has significantly decreased  security issues such as gate vandalism and forced entries,  and the security staff can quickly respond to security events before issues escalate or perpetrators leave the scene, including drunk driving and hit-and-run incidents. Overall the security solution has increased the effectiveness of Serrano security while simultaneously reducing risk and liability.
